OFFICIALS RELEASE REPORT ON RESPONSE, RECOVERY EFFORTS OF NOVEMBER 1 ACTIVE-SHOOTER INCIDENT AND RESULTING DISRUPTION AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
  (Los Angeles, California – March 18, 2014)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) officials today released a report on the response and recovery efforts following the November 1, 2013, active-shooter incident and resulting disruption at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Suspect Paul Ciancia shot and killed Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Officer Gerardo Hernandez, and wounded a passenger and two other TSA officers inside Terminal 3.

AIRPORT POLICE SERGEANTS GRADUATE FROM SHERMAN BLOCK SUPERVISORY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
(Los Angeles, California – February 12, 2014) Five Los Angeles Airport Police Sergeants recently graduated from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI). Sergeants Troye Holmes, a 24-year veteran of the Airport Police Division; Martha Hall with 22 years of service; Robert Richardson with 30 years; and Marlo Richardson and Anthony Boisselle, both with 15 years on the force; each completed the intensive leadership development program and participated in commencement ceremonies.

REIGN TO HOST "SALUTE TO HEROES NIGHT" PRESENTED BY ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Ontario Reign announced their Salute to Heroes Night that is presented by the Ontario International Airport (ONT) to benefit the USO Ontario on Sunday, April 6.

ONT will have a prominent presence during the 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6 Reign game with dropping the ceremonial puck, recognizing the USO Ontario on the stage during an intermission and holding a silent auction throughout the game with a military themed jersey signed by the Reign team. There are two special ticket links that will offer fundraising dollars for the USO Ontario and a way to donate tickets for servicemen and women. Both links will raise much needed funds for the USO Ontario.

LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NORTH WAY ROADWAY CLOSED THIS WEEKEND FOR REPAVEMENT

LA/Ontario International Airport North Way Roadway Closed This Weekend for Repavement

 

(Ontario, California – February 28, 2014)  The main entrance into LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT) at North Way, west of Archibald Ave., will be closed from Friday, Feb. 28 through Tuesday, March 4 for asphalt repavement.  North Way, which leads to the terminal areas and adjacent parking lots, is being repaved and resurfaced for safety and reduced emergency repairs in the future.

US AIRWAYS RELOCATES OPERATIONS FROM TERMINAL 1 TO TERMINAL 3 AT LAX EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 12, 2014
(Los Angeles, CA - February 11, 2014) Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 12, US Airways, a subsidiary of American Airlines Group, will operate out of Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Terminal 3. The airline will end operations at Terminal 1 tonight, Feb. 11 following late night arriving and departing flights.  The US Airways Club in Terminal 1 will also cease operations.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS (LAWA) HAS RECEIVED MEDIA INQUIRIES AS TO ITS CURRENT POSITION REGARDING A POTENTIAL TRANSFER OF LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (ONT)
(Ontario, California – February 6, 2014)  The Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) adopted the “Guiding Concepts and Principles for Negotiations Related to Potential Divestiture of ONT” on December 17, 2012.  The document establishes criteria for LAWA to consider a potential transfer of ONT, including that any potential new owner must continue to operate ONT as a commercial airport, that measures will be taken to protect current employees of ONT and that any transfer will protect LAWA’s financial interests.
