LAX MODERNIZATION UPDATE: JUNE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS MAY CAUSE PASSENGER IMPACTS
Construction continues on several projects at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) – all part of the ongoing multi-billion-dollar airport modernization program. The latest impacts to travelers will be the closure of Center Way from Theme Way to East Way, the temporary and intermediate closure of the Upper/Departures Level Roadway, and the relocation of the TSA Screening Area on the south side of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), among other ongoing construction projects.

LAX FORECASTS 758,000 TRAVELERS DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND; SUMMER TRAVEL SEASON TO BREAK RECORD WITH 21.5 MILLION PASSENGERS
(Los Angeles, California – May 22, 2014) Officials at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) estimate nearly 758,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport this Memorial Day weekend – an increase of eight percent over the 703,070 passengers of the 2013 holiday period. Airport officials also forecast 21.5 million passengers this summer travel season, an increase of four percent over last summer’s record of 20,663,209 travelers.

LAWA PLACES 16TH AMONG GOVERNMENT AGENCIES IN ITS USE OF GREEN POWER

(Los Angeles, California – May 2, 2014) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs announces three new art exhibitions at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that explore Los Angeles’ natural and built environments through sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, and mixed-media works. Featuring solo installations by Jaime Scholnick in Terminal 1 and Luciana Abait in Terminal 3, and a group exhibition guest curated by Milo + McLean in Terminals 7 and 8, the artworks on display re-interpret the substance of our environment and the familiar Southern California experience.

LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL TOMMY E. SCOTT MEMORIAL RUN AT LAX
(Los Angeles, California – April 29, 2014) Los Angeles Airport Police Division hosted the Third Annual Tommy E. Scott 5K Memorial Run on, April 30, beginning 7:30 a.m. in front of the Airport Police Station. The 5K run was held in honor of Airport Police Officer Tommy E. Scott, who was killed in the line of duty on April 29, 2005. All proceeds from the event go toward the Tommy E. Scott Scholarship Fund.
