LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ANNOUNCES FIRST-QUARTER PASSENGER VOLUME UP 5.4 PERCENT

(Los Angeles, California - April 29, 2010)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today announced passenger volume at Los AngelesInternationalAirport(LAX) increased 5.4 percent to 13,314,854 during the first three months of this year.  

Domestic traffic rose 4.5 percent to 9,574,185 passengers from 9,153,763 during first quarter last year.

ALITALIA TO FLY LAX-ROME BEGINNING IN JUNE – NEW INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS TO LAX GENERATE TENS OF MILLIONS FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ECONOMY

Villaraigosa today cheered the announcement that Alitalia will resume nonstop service from Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) to Rome five times a week beginning June 5, 2010.  The returning air service on wide-body aircraft is expected to generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually in economic activity in Southern California.

LAX REPORT ON EUROPEON FLIGHTS: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21
With the airspace over the U.K. and the rest of Europe open today, LAX's regular schedule of 17 departing flights to the U.K. and Europe are expected to operate today, along with 16 arriving flights (there is only 1 cancelled arriving flight). However, many of the flights are expected to be significantly delayed fdepending upon the time flights from Europe arrive and the planes are cleaned and prepared for turn-around to Europe.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS, LAX TWO CORP. REACH SETTLEMENT ON LITIGATION FOR TERMINAL 2 AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
   The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a settlement agreement among Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA); LAX Two Corp.; Delta Air Lines, Inc. for itself and as successor to Northwest Airlines, Inc.; Hawaiian Airlines, Inc.; and Air Canada regarding a lawsuit pending in the United States District Court for the Central District of California in Northwest Airlines, Inc. v. City of Los Angeles concerning the lease with LAX Two Corp. for Terminal 2 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Flight operations to the UK and Europe are still being disrupted today, Sunday, April 18, due to temporary closure of air space over that area of the world resulting from the volcanic eruption in Iceland on Wednesday, April 14.

  At LAX today, April 18, 18 arriving flights and 15 departing flights (33 total) have been cancelled by airlines serving London/Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich.

Flight operations to the U.K. and Europe were still disrupted today, Friday, April 16, due to the temporary closure of the air space over the U.K. and parts of Europe, resulting from the volcanic eruption in Iceland on Wednesday.  By this evening, 10 arriving flights and 13 departure flights (23 total) were cancelled by airlines serving London/Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich (the last two departure/destination cities were added today).
