LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS ESTABLISHES TASK FORCE WITH AIRLINES, OTHER TENANTS TO MINIMIZE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF AVIATION INDUSTRY REDUCTIONS
(Los Angeles, California -- September 25, 2001) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) officials announced today the creation of an Economic Impact Assessment Task Force to work with the air carriers and other tenants at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) "to develop ideas and initiatives that will mitigate the economic impacts of the September 11 tragedies on airport-wide employees and to minimize to the greatest extent possible the impact on men and women whose livelihoods depend on a prosperous airport."

LAX UPDATE ON OPERATIONAL STATUS; ADVICE FOR TRAVELERS USING LAX
(Los Angeles, California -- September 20, 2001) Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are currently operating nearly 85 percent of the average 2,100 daily flights in effect prior to the terrorist attacks that shut down the nation's airports. This is expected to be the level of operations at LAX for the near future, as many airlines have already indicated they plan to reduce their flight schedules by 15 to 20 percent.

LAX OPENS NEW FACILITY FOR PASSENGERS BEING DROPPED OFF AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California -- September 17, 2001) Effective Tuesday, September 18, at 5:00 am, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will open a special stop for passengers being dropped off for departing flights ONLY at the airport. The new drop-off stop will be located at 9011 Airport Boulevard north of the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Arbor Vitae/Westchester Parkway

ADVICE FOR TRAVELERS USING LAX

(Los Angeles, CA – September 15, 2001) With Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) expecting to operate at 45 percent flight capacity on Saturday and 55 to 60 percent on Sunday, officials today are asking passengers to observe the following travel advice:

  • Do not bring knives, scissors, etc., of any length or type to the airport. They will be confiscated at the security checkpoint.

PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR LAX MASTER PLAN ARE CANCELLED FOLLOWING SEPT. 11 TERRORIST ATTACKS ON UNITED STATES

(Los Angeles, California – September 14, 2001) The remaining public hearings set for Sept. 15 and 19-20 for the LAX Master Plan have been cancelled following the terrorists attacks on the United States.

Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Lydia Kennard today announced the cancellation of the community meetings.

LOS ANGELES AND ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS REOPEN TO THE PUBLIC
(Los Angeles, CA - September 13, 2001) Shortly after 12:00 p.m. today, Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International (ONT) airports reopened to the public. LAX and ONT were among the first in the United States to be certified by the FAA to resume operations.

LAX EXPECTING BUSY LABOR DAY TRAFFIC

While not a new record-breaking level, it is expected to be as busy as last year's Labor Day.
