FIRM SELECTED TO RESTORE, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN WESTCHESTER GOLF COURSE NEAR LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS
  Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners awarded today a 10-year lease to Westchester Golf Partners LLC (WGP), calling for the restoration of Westchester Golf Course to its original 18 holes, as well as its operation and maintenance.

SOUNDPROOFING CONTRACT AWARDED FOR WORK NEAR LAX

LAWA APPROVES PURCHASE OF 20-ACRE PARCEL EAST OF TERMINAL 1 AT LAX; SITE TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS AIRPORT PARKING LOT
     The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved entering into an agreement to purchase a 20-acre parcel just east of Terminal 1 at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) for $125 million.

LAX ANNOUNCES POSSIBLE TRAFFIC CONGESTION DUE TO LABOR DEMONSTRATION

Motorists entering and exiting Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) are asked to allow extra time due to a labor demonstration that will take place in the Central Terminal Area from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 Officials do not anticipate the worker demonstrations will have material impact on passenger arrivals or departures.  However, it is recommended that passengers arrive 2 hours prior to departing domestic flights and 3 hours prior to international departures.   Motorist picking up passengers are also asked to allow for extra time and to expect groups of demonstrators crossing streets in and around the Central Terminal Area.

MARKING TIME: ARTISTS PRESERVE AND CONSERVE IN LAX EXHIBIT
(Los Angeles, California – June 9, 2009)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a five-artist group exhibit of Los Angeles-based artists on display at Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX). The exhibit, entitled “Preservation/Conservation,” examines how our society is faced with diminishing natural resources, yet has an insatiable desire for material goods.  The artists included in the exhibit illustrate different ways to understand this conundrum through various strategies of preservation and conservation in their work.  Nancy Macko, Professor of Art and Chair of the Gender and Women’s Studies Department at ScrippsCollege, served as the guest curator.

(Los Angeles, California – June 16, 2009)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs,announces a nine-artist group exhibit of Los Angeles-based artists on display at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The exhibit, entitled “of Intricacy,” features artwork that is meticulously developed through accumulation, layering, and additive processes. Independent curator, artist, and writer John O’Brien served as the guest curator.

- - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - - PARTIAL CLOSURE OF CURBSIDE INNER LANE AT TOM BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL SCHEDULED AT LAX
(Los Angeles, California – June 11, 2009) Los Angeles International Airport(LAX) officials advise motorists and passengers that portions of the sidewalk on the Lower Arrivals Level in front of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) will be closed due to construction June 12 to September 30, 2009.  This will result in the closure of the vehicle lane closest to the sidewalk to facilitate pedestrians as they make their way between TBIT and Terminals 3 and 4.

LAX FLYAWAY BUS FARES FROM VAN NUYS AND UNION STATION TO INCREASE EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2009
The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners today approved a fare increase for the LAX FlyAway bus service originating from Van Nuys and Union Station.  The new $7 one-way fare for these two non-stop routes to Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) will start August 1, 2009.  The fare for a third route, Westwood to LAX, will remain unchanged at $5, since it is still an emerging market.

LATE NIGHT CLOSURES FOR MAINTENANCE OF NORTH RUNWAYS MAY 23-24
Please be advised that due to electrical maintenance work being performed this weekend on LAX's north runway complex (Runways 24R/6L and 24L/6R), Over-Ocean Operations will be suspended from Midnight to 6:30 AM on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th as these runways will be closed.

FEWER TRAVELERS EXPECTED AT LAX FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
   (Los Angeles, California – May 21, 2009)  Los Angeles World Airports officials expect 730,000 passengers to pass through Los AngelesInternationalAirport (LAX) during the Memorial Day travel period May 22-25, a decline of 10 percent compared to 2008.
