ALASKA AIRLINES UNVEILS $238-MILLION TERMINAL 6 RENOVATION AT LAX HIGH-TECH AMENITIES INCLUDE “AIRPORT OF THE FUTURE” AND POWER OUTLETS AT THE GATES

NEW LAX PASSENGER OUTREACH CAMPAIGN UNVEILED “REFLECTIONS” CAMPAIGN TO INFORM PASSENGERS ABOUT ONGOING AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS

(Los Angeles, California- March 22, 2012) On the heels of the recent launch of the public education outreach program, branded “LAneXt ™, ” today Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey joined customer service employees and volunteers to unveil a new, in-terminal passenger communications effort at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

            The “Reflections” campaign features a series of airport stakeholders (travelers, police officer, pilot, construction worker) with reflective surfaces such as sunglasses, windows and binoculars.  The “future” of LAX is reflected in the various surfaces.

FOUR AIRLINES TO CHANGE TERMINALS AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AS PART OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM

AIRPORT POLICE DIGNITARY PROTECTION UNIT TO BE RECOGNIZED AT BOARD OF AIRPORT COMMISSIONERS MEETING
The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners will recognize the Los Angeles Airport Police Dignitary Protection Unit (DPU) for their leadership, professionalism, expertise and dedication to protecting dignitaries arriving at and departing from Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA’s) three airports.  The Board’s action will occur during its regularly scheduled public meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012, in LAWA’s Clifton A. Moore Administration Building.

AIRPORT EMPLOYEE HONORED FOR RETURNING LOST WALLET CONTAINING $2,993
(Los Angeles, California – March 15, 2012)  Liborio Garcia, a custodian service attendant in Los Angeles International Airport’s Maintenance Services Division, was honored today by co-workers and supervisors for returning a lost wallet containing $2,993 that he found while working in a Departures Level men’s restroom in Terminal 7.

(Los Angeles, California – March 13, 2012)  Los Angeles Airport Police Officer Kelly Washington, a 14-year veteran assigned to Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis Unit (VAAU) since 2001, will be recognized on March 13, 2012, at the Westchester Elks Lodge Law Enforcement Appreciation Night.  Officer Washington joined Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Division in 1998, but has been a Los Angeles City employee for 24 years.

LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (ONT) PARTICIPATES IN DR. SEUSS READ ACROSS AMERICA TO THE DELIGHT OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
   (Ontario, California – March 6, 2012) In recognition of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, Friday March 2nd, LA/Ontario International Airport’s (ONT) Community & Public Relations Division and ONT Bomb Detection K-9 Unit had the privilege of participating in the designated Read Across America Day at Lake Hills Elementary School in Riverside and Ranch View Elementary School in Ontario. This is an annual event sponsored by the National Education Association, and the California Teachers Association. Elementary schools throughout the country plan special events to promote and encourage a love of reading for elementary school children.
