GUIDING CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES FOR POTENTIAL DIVESTITURE OF LA/ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

SITES PROPOSED FOR METRO LIGHT RAIL DIRECT CONNECTION TO LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINALS
 Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) staff today announced its “strong commitment and desire” for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to locate a Metro light rail station directly at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  To support this proposal, LAWA has committed to provide scarce airport property located west of Sepulveda Boulevard on the east end of the Central Terminal Area (CTA) to create the opportunity for an on-airport Metro light rail station.

TWENTY AIRPORT POLICE CADETS GRADUATE LAPD CADET ACADEMY
(Los Angeles, California – December 14, 2012) Twenty Los Angeles Airport Police cadets, ranging in ages 13 to 19, will graduate from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Cadet Academy Program.  The cadets will be sworn in during a ceremony beginning 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, at the University of Southern California’s Galen Center, 3400 Figueroa Street, Los Angeles.

LUFTHANSA BRINGS FIRST-EVER BOEING 747-8 INTERCONTINENTAL PASSENGER SERVICE TO U.S. WEST COAST AT LAX
(Los Angeles, California – December 11, 2012) Lufthansa initiated commercial service Monday of the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental along the airline’s Frankfurt (FRA) to Los Angeles (LAX) route.  Flight LH456 departed Frankfurt touched down at LAX at 1:15 p.m.  The City of Angels is just the second destination in the U.S. and fourth in the world designated for service of the new jumbo jet.  The regularly-scheduled return flight, LH457, departed LAX at 3:45 p.m. arriving in Frankfurt shortly after 11 a.m. the following day.  Lufthansa’s newest flagship aircraft will provide daily service between the two cities, increasing capacity on this route by 17 percent.

AIRPORT STAFF IDENTIFIES RECOMMENDED LAX SPECIFIC PLAN AMENDMENT STUDY ALTERNATIVE
(Los Angeles, California – December 3, 2012)  The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners (BOAC) was presented today with staff-recommended alternatives, based on the ongoing Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Specific Plan Amendment Study (SPAS) Report and the Draft SPAS Environmental Impact Report (EIR).  The SPAS identifies potential amendments to the LAX Specific Plan for the modernization and improvement of LAX in a manner designed for a practical capacity of 78.9 million annual passengers, while enhancing safety and security, minimizing environmental impacts on surrounding communities, and creating conditions that encourage airlines to use other airports in the region.

FITCH RATES UPCOMING LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BONDS “AA,” REVISES OUTLOOK TO “STABLE”
      Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced that Fitch Ratings recently assigned an “AA” rating for LAWA’s upcoming issuance of $237 million senior revenue bonds 2012 series ABC on behalf of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Fitch re-affirmed the airport’s existing $2.66 billion parity senior revenue bonds at “AA” and $782.5 million subordinate revenue bonds at “AA-.”  Fitch also revised its rating outlook for all bonds to “stable” from “negative.”

REAL-TIME LAX CONDITIONS ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2012
UPDATE #4 AT 2:10 P.M. PST -- According to Los Angeles Police Department officials, the labor demonstration has concluded and northbound Sepulveda Boulevard re-opened shortly after 2 p.m. Traffic flow on City streets adjacent to LAX is expected to return to normal shortly; and traffic on Central Terminal Area upper and lower roadways continues to flow smoothly. During the demonstration, airlines at LAX reported no flight delays nor any major issues with passengers missing flights. For a two-hour period, LAX buses from one of the airport employee parking lots experienced up to 20-minute delays due to the need for that service to change its normal route into the Central Terminal Area.

LAX TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2012
 Passengers, visitors and workers traveling to/from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, are advised to expect vehicular traffic congestion and possible delays due to phased closures of westbound Century Boulevard between Airport and Sepulveda boulevards, and then of northbound Sepulveda Boulevard between Imperial Highway and 98th Street.  This is in response to a scheduled labor demonstration by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 1877.

NEARLY 1.8 MILLION PASSENGERS EXPECTED AT LAX THIS THANKSGIVING; NEW AIRPORT POLICE EQUIPMENT, PROGRAMS INTRODUCED TO HELP MANAGE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND ENSURE PUBLIC SAFETY
 (Los Angeles, California – November 14, 2012)  Airport officials forecast that over 1.792 million passengers will pass through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this Thanksgiving, a modest increase of 0.3 percent over last Thanksgiving’s 1.786 million passenger level.  Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 25 – and NOT the traditional day before Thanksgiving -- is forecasted to be the busiest day of the holiday travel period.  Other busy days are expected to be the beginning and end of the 10-day travel period, Friday, November 16,and Monday, November 26, respectively.

HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR AND HISTORY COMES ALIVE IN PHOTO EXHIBITION AT LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, California – November 8, 2012)  Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, announces a new exhibition of photographs documenting Hollywood’s past and present at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  Let’s Get Lost: Polaroids from the Coast , features a 30-year collection of large-format Polaroid photographs by Jim McHugh, depicting pre-World War II era landmarks of Los Angeles and portraits of over fifty Hollywood celebrities, and on display in Terminal 3 Arrivals Corridor through February 2013.
