LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES AMONG 11 PRIME CONTRACTORS CHOSEN TO PROVIDE UP TO $259 MILLION IN SUPPORT SERVICES FOR LAWA’S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA TO LAUNCH SERVICE BETWEEN LOS ANGELES, MELBOURNE IN 2017
(Los Angeles, California – September 20, 2016)  Virgin Australia today announced it will launch service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Melbourne, Australia, on April 4, 2017. The nonstop flights will operate five times a week using Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft, with fares available for sale starting September 21, 2016.

DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT RELEASED FOR LAX LANDSIDE ACCESS MODERNIZATION PROGRAM; 45-DAY PUBLIC REVIEW, COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS

ADDITIONAL PARKING PROVIDED FOR LAX VETERANS JOB FAIR ON WEDNESDAY
(Los Angeles, California – September 13, 2016)  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is hosting its first Jobs@LAX for Veterans job fair, on Wednesday, September 14, at the LAX Flight Path Learning Center and Museum, located at 6661 West Imperial Highway, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Due to the overwhelming response, and limited parking available at the facility, LAX is providing additional parking on airport property at World Way West with shuttle service.

LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE DISCIPLINE SYSTEM FAIR AND IMPARTIAL, APPLIES TO OFFICERS OF ALL RANKS
 Two Los Angeles Airport Police Division (APD) officials, who had been on administrative leave pending the outcome of personnel investigations, have resigned.

While the APD is prohibited by law from releasing details of personnel matters, laws which are intended to protect employee privacy rights, the agency can confirm that Brian Walker resigned his position as Assistant Chief of Police.

NORWEGIAN TO LAUNCH FLIGHTS FROM LOS ANGELES TO BARCELONA IN 2017
 European low-cost air carrier, Norwegian, today announced it will launch flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Barcelona, Spain, on June 5, 2017.  The nonstop flights to Spain will operate twice a week until the end of August 2017, when it will add a third weekly flight.

FLYAWAY® BUS TO CEASE SANTA MONICA SERVICE MONDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 5; LOW RIDERSHIP CITED
FlyAway® nonstop bus service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Santa Monica will cease operation at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 5.  Airport officials cited low ridership averaging 1.3 passengers per trip at a loss of $36.53 per passenger for ending the service.
