LAX TO CONDUCT WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERT TEST ON JAN. 15

(Los Angeles, CA)  Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will conduct a full-scale test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system on Jan. 15. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is now among the government agencies across the country granted authority by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to utilize the WEA system, in which emergency text messages and an alert tone are pushed to compatible mobile devices – such as cell phones – within a pre-defined geographic area.

FIRST FOUNDATION POUR FOR PEOPLE MOVER TRAIN MAINTENANCE FACILITY MOVES CONSTRUCTION FORWARD

‘SUPER PEAK’ HOLIDAY TRAVEL DAYS IN FULL SWING AT LAX

(Los Angeles, CA) Holiday travel season is in full swing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). During the 25-day holiday period a total of 5.9 million passengers are estimated to use the airport. The busiest stretch will last until Dec.30. Today is considered a "super peak" travel day at the nation’s second-busiest airport, and passenger volume is projected to exceed 249,000 travelers today.

ON NATIONAL LOST & FOUND DAY, LAX ANNOUNCES NEW TECHNOLOGY TO REUNITE GUESTS WITH THEIR MISPLACED BELONGINGS

(Los Angeles, CA) From wallets and purses to laptops and teddy bears, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has a new way to reconnect airport guests with lost belongings. 

LAX, the second-busiest airport in the United States, receives an average of 5,000 to 7,000 items each month at the airport’s Lost and Found office. Managed by the Los Angeles Airport Police Department, the LAX Lost and Found is a warehouse filled with tens of thousands of items left behind by airport visitors. With recovered items kept for at least 90 days in the hope of finding their owners, Airport Police stores up to 30,000 individual items on any given day.

LAX COMPLETES FIRST FOUNDATION POUR FOR INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION FACILITY – WEST
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) future parking and mobility hub – the Intermodal Transportation Facility – West (ITF-West) – notched a significant milestone with the first foundation pour for the 1.7-million-square-foot facility, marking a new phase in construction for the facility. ITF-West will provide much needed pick-up/drop-off locations and parking options outside of the airport’s Central Terminal Area (CTA) when it opens in 2021 and then reaches full optimization with connection to the new Automated People Mover train in 2023.

ANOTHER EXTREMELY BUSY EVENING FOR LAX ON THE FINAL DAY OF THANKSGIVING PEAK TRAVEL
(Los Angeles, CA) The Thanksgiving travel season for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), which ends on Tuesday, is officially one of the busiest on record. LAWA officials continue to urge travelers to plan for extra time at the airport today given the high volume of travelers. Today’s passenger volume is expected to be on par with yesterday’s, with nearly 250,000 travelers forecasted. Peak travel times today will also rival those of yesterday, when more than 90,000 people, the capacity of the Rose Bowl, came through LAX in just a five-hour period. Today’s “super peak” is expected between 5-9 p.m.
